A pregnancy changes everything /Dragging a pregnant wife through more slime is unthinkable. Weiner h
If Huma Abedin is pregnant, as the New York Times is reporting, I think Anthony Weiner has to resign -- and I actually expect him to. That news changes everything. If Huma Abedin is pregnant, as the New York Times is reporting, I think Anthony Weiner has to resign -- and I actually expect him to. That news changes everything.

If that's true, deciding to hang tough, weather an ethics investigation and fight the coordinated right-wing effort to run him out of office becomes an act of cruelty. Already the naked photo Andrew Breitbart said he wouldn't make public (unless he had to protect the women involved) became public, when two conservative shock jocks happened to snap a photo of it on Breitbart's phone, and posted it online. Breitbart issued a statement saying he "regrets" the unauthorized photo of his photo by the scampy shock jocks. It reminds me of Condi Rice saying, "No one could have predicted" terrorists would use "airplanes as missiles," after she'd already been briefed on just such plots. Showing the photo to right-wing shock jocks, and believing it would stay private, is either unbelievable, or unbelievably stupid. But hey, let's give him the benefit of the doubt.

3. Not all pregnancies are happy, even the planned ones.
And I've known women who had absolutely miserable pregnancies who ended up with beautiful babies. Let's call this article what it is: desperately grasping for yet another reason why Weiner should resign. Instead of debating whether he should or shouldn't resign, perhaps we should be thinking about why these calls to resign have arisen so quickly and are so persistent.

13. There is something called a moral compass and there are
people who will make their decisions on that, and not whether Vitter is still in office or what his constitutats say or wait for them to vote him in or out come the next election, or how much they hate the Repubs.
At times it's just the right thing to do...which is resign.

14. What does that have to do with the job he's done in Congress?
That's what I care about. I'm far more worried about the behavior of Congress-critters who might be "morally upright" but do nothing to advocate for ordinary Americans than I am about the personal behavior of someone who's been a strong progressive voice in the House.

15. I don't either, which is why I think she is capable of letting her husband
know what she wants, instead of presuming that I know what's best for her.

19. You think she's a helpless little flower who needs protection?
I don't think she'd thank you for that characterization. You don't make it to where she is by being weak.

17. Thank you.
Women are not fragile containers for precious, precious fetuses that must be protected by everyone. I think she's capable of looking after herself. To treat her otherwise demeans her and all women (pregnant or not).

Why are we using double standards.

10. His wife knew all about his 'hobby" before she married him
he just didn't keep his promise to her about stopping this behavior, so it's not like she got struck by lightening when the story broke.
Their pregnancy is timed perfectly, Weiner can now be a house mom and do the childcare.
