If Weiner came out early on and owned up the situation and even said that it's possible people can expect lewd pictures. This would have blown over. It's the lying repeatedly on television. So much so---that you weren't sure if he was lying or telling the truth. Then he finally admits to it. Not only did he accidentally release these pics to cause the uproar, but then he lied about it---extending the related drama. No one would care if he'd owned up to this, seriously. Then the added fact of his wife being pregnant is not going to help his favorable ratings, that's for sure.
