So There Was This Elderly Couple At The Store Today...
Had to be in their seventies. The sweet little lady had a tee shirt on that said "When Bush came into office gas was $1.46 a gallon".

3. LMAO
BUT, the more serious problem is the fact that bush has been out of office for 3 years now, and gas is 3.50-3.75 per gallon.

11. Good lord.
Gas prices have more than doubled since Obama took office.

I'm sorry, but that is a fact. Do you somehow LIKE paying those prices if they're charged under a Dem administration?

Gas prices as a political issue are a non-starter.

15. No - I don't like paying those prices but to suggest that the price of gas stayed
at the $1.41 to $1.61 range during the Bush years is insane. I remember paying over $4 while bush was pres. Don't rewrite the facts.

16. I completely agree. But where are they now, again?
Yeah. Higher than inauguration day by a factor of almost two.

Nonstarter.

21. Apples / Oranges
2008 was pure price gouging by the oil companies, blaming Katrina even though no refineries actually had any prolonged shutdowns. Prices are up now because crude is up - because of instability in the Mid-East. I don't recall Obama invading any country in the region.

23. How wrong can you be?
It was the weak dollar in BOTH cases, pushing up the price of crude, thereby pushing up the price of gas.
And oil companies continue to post stunning profits even now.

This issue is a serious, bigtime loser. Sorry.

9. As any rightwinger can tell you, any 2 data points make a trend.
No person who understand math or statistics will tell you that ... but almost every right winger believes that any 2 data points that THEY PICK (key criteria) describe a TREND.

22. That should have read,"When Clinton left office, gas was only $1.46 a gallon."
Bush hadn't had a chance to fuck things up yet.
