I seriously think that the congressman would benefit from some rehab. Then he can reenter the
political arena. There is too much talent to just erase him from congress. Redemption is possible. To silence Weiner is to give victory to the most despicable "finger pointers". We lost the voice of Alan Grayson and it frightens me that we will lose the voice of Anthony Weiner for the underserved of this country. Most Democrats are afraid or reluctant to speak out and let their voices be heard on key issues.

1. good call
He will never be anything more than a tarnished Rep. For his long term gain it would be best to drop out, go to rehab, and then take another shot.

3. Agree
I really think something is wrong here. What he did makes no sense and the risk taking indicates there is something else at work here.

4. To rehab from what?
Being a guy?

We talking reality or political viability? And if so in what office? Mayor of NY? No chance & why? Because he's just not real smart, imo.

Fwiw, I don't think he should resign his current position. Leave it to the voters.

6. Sometimes there are issues that need to be dealt with outside the glare of cameras and the MSM. I
doubt that a lot of men would consider this just being a guy, because if that is true, then rehab needs to be expanded to include many more.

Midlife crisis perhaps.

9. We lose them because we let them be targeted and then don't fight for them.
But this rehab thing is ridiculous. You can't cure a Type A personality. He'll always be this way. DO YOU HAVE THE GUTS TO TAKE THE GOOD WITH THE DICK?

Edited on Wed Jun-08-11 03:21 AM by aquart
Only missionary position and that only with the wife and that only for procreation? And anything else is insane?

How would you punish masturbation which seems to be the great sin we've been skirting here?

If a congressman pleasures himself in his office, what is the correct statute to apply?

22. You are going off a cliff I refuse to join you on. Rehabilitation takes many forms. You seem to
seek punishment as the end game. Reconciliation with one's demons is a better alternative.

12. Religion managed to
separate us from our own, innate sexuality. It's legacy continues to this day. I would declare that a victory when you consider that power is about something that takes over our very being and uses it against us while convincing us that the whole thing is for our own, ultimate good = salvation from a problem then created and then told us they had the undeniable solution to.

We see this used as a tool in politics, (when deemed appropriate) and some buy into it and others see it for what it is. We are not yet beyond the pale of the morality-as-normalcy political game where the idea is to pick and choose whatever obviously personal proclivity you can create that can make your target vulnerable to manipulation, control and defamation as you, and your media, see fit.

While we would all like to be moral and upright, still, (however you define that) it is all about chasing an ideal that is set out for us, like a carrot before a horse, in order to direct and control the results of what are are own built-in, natural drives that we deal with, in relationship from day to day. None of us are without them, but there are some of us who know how to grab hold of them and utilize what we are and have in ways that yield power, control and great profit. We are in times where that becomes as obvious as what we all might want consider doing to respond to the game has been, and is afoot with our species.

That kind of thinking is what a revolution of the mind is about. How did you get to think what you do and who informed you? Isn't that a part of how you react to what is presented to you in the system that now wants to take what you thought you had away and cast you as a Serf in their Fiefdom? That should be a real incentive to reconsider your ideas, beliefs and stance on the big game board before us all.

15. Rehab?
We have rehab facilities that teach irresponsible, immature, congressmen to behave like responsible adults?

I'm pretty sure anything he learned would be immediately forgotten once he's back in Congress. Maybe if we didn't treat politicians like movie stars they'd stay a bit more grounded in reality.

17. We cheapen concepts like "rehab" when we send everyone who misbehaves off to 'redeem' them.
The guy did some sleazy stuff, none of it apparently illegal or involving non-adults. It's between him and his wife. End of story.

Come on, the guy didn't do anything many of us haven't done at least once... Unless you mean rehab for lying. In that case, I still doubt he hasn't done something most of us haven't done at least once or twice. It's a shame he didn't come right out and just say "oops...hehehe"

24. How about we send PP protesters and evangelical hypocrites and catholic priests
to *morality* rehab long before we take the good congressman from NY? Yeah, he lied. Disappointed the hell outta me too. But I imagine if you or I found ourselves in that situation our first response might not be our best one either. No blood no foul as far as I'm concerned.

27. On another note...
Do you consider him to be an effective legislator, up until this week obviously? Had he passed laws that you find particularly appealing?

Or was his talent just that he was a stronger brand of left than most in congress?
