Party of David Vitter & Larry Craig & Newt Gingrich Tells Anthony Weiner To Resign
Source: Wonkette

The chairman of the Republican National Committee on Tuesday called for Rep. Anthony Weiner to resign from Congress, saying no investigation was necessary “to know he lied and acted inappropriately.”

Following Weiner’s dramatic news conference Monday afternoon, during which he admitted to sending explicit online communications to women over the course of several years, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi called for the Ethics Committee to look into whether the New York congressman had violated House rules.

Repeatedly & illegally using the services of prostitutes, making bathroom sex advances on cops and divorcing your cancerous wives while banging staffers while prosecuting another politician’s infidelity, these are all A-OK with the G-OP. Is Mark Foley the only Republican in Congress during this awful 21st Century to actually resign for his sex troubles? We think so. Mark Foley actually had some scruples.

I guess it should come as no surprise that the GOP is saying with a straight face that Andrew Weiner should resign or that most of the corporate media is not challenging Republicans to the double standard that is applied to them.

1. Republicans are irony challenged.
The media knows the Survivor and Real Housewives crowd will eat this up. Damn shame sweeps are over.

The howling at DU is mere hysteria.

2. Nah, it is double standard that is ingrained in the media...
...With John Ensign, the serious folks in the media stressed the need to carefully examine the facts before leaping to conclusions when Ensign actually engaged in massive fraud and a cover-up of his corruption in pressuring political supporters to hire the husband of his mistress. Yet, with Weiner, the media demands that Weiner resign over sexting.

3. It's to be expected. That's the way it'll always be, we shouldn't be surprised.

5. The Republicans have an obvious alcoholic in a prominent position.
That is a far more serious problem, if you ask me.

I will bet you there are some bigtime gamblers on the Republican side too (and possibly on the Democratic side). Alcohol and gambling are far more serious problems than sex texting (which is juvenile, but just kind of stupid and harmless).
