Hundreds of people protesting cuts in the state budget for education march across the 16th Street Viaduct on Saturday in Milwaukee. The rally started at MacDowell Montessori School, N. 17th St. and W. Highland Blvd., and ended at Forest Home Elementary School, S. 15th St. and W. Forest Home Ave. The viaduct, known as the James E. Groppi Unity Bridge, was the site of civil rights marches led by Father Groppi during the 1960s

Join the We Are Wisconsin coalition, along with a number of other progressive groups, at Walkerville - a 'city' of tents around the Capitol square calling attention to the devastating state budget cuts to education, health care and other programs benefiting Wisconsin's working families.

The action near the Capitol will begin the evening of Saturday, June 4, at 7 p.m. and will continue throughout the state budget process. Each day will focus on one area that will be harmed by the governor's extreme budget.

•Sunday, June 5, is K-12 public education day (teachers and education support professionals), program starts at 3 p.m.

•Monday, June 6, is public services day (state workers/Council 1, local/county services, police and fire), program starts at 7 p.m.

•Wednesday, June 8, is higher education day (including our technical college members), program starts at 7 p.m.

See the link for other rallies, other dates, other sites.
