The ECI, Bill Kristol and the New Obama Television Ad (after smearing Joe Sestak)

I would not have paid attention to this YouTube video were it only published online.
But when I saw it yesterday, twice within one hour, broadcast on MSNBC cable
television, I was mad. Meet the Emergency Committee For Israel (ECI)
and their latest misleading smear of President Obama.

... Video ...

VOICE: When President Obama sided with the Palestinians, members of congress from
both parties stood with Israel.
SEN. REID: No one should set premature parameters about borders.
REP. HOYER: Israel’s borders must be defensible.
SEN. CASEY: Jerusalem, the undivided, eternal capital of Israel.
P.M. NETENYAU: And I see a lot of new friends of Israel here, Democrats
and Republicans alike.
VOICE: The Emergency Committee for Israel thanks Israel’s true friends, Democrats
and Republicans alike.

As we know, President Obama, in his May 19, 2011 speech, stated:

“The borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, so that secure and recognized borders are established for both states.” These are the same positions taken by former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton.

... snip ...

Most ominous to me of all, however, is this article published by the website Right Web: Tracking Militarists’ Efforts to Influence U.S. Foreign Policy. Here is an excerpt:

The Emergency Committee for Israel (ECI) is a pressure group launched in July 2010 to promote a militarist, “pro-Israel” U.S. agenda. ECI has run attack ads that target politicians deemed “soft” on terrorism and who criticize Israel-centric U.S. policies ... The group’s first act was to run a controversial attack ad in July 2010 targeting the track record of U.S. Senate candidate Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA), which insinuated that he supported terrorists ... ECI board members include William Kristol, editor and founder of the Weekly Standard and cofounder of the Foreign Policy Initiative ... “We’re the pro-Israel wing of the pro-Israel community.” -- William Kristol
