Michele Bachmann calls Planned Parenthood a ‘criminal enterprise’
Source: Raw Story
By Muriel Kane

At a Faith and Freedom Conference in Washington on Friday, GOP presidential hopeful Rep.Michele Bachmann (R-MN) sought to appeal to religious conservatives by blasting Planned Parenthood, which provides reproductive health services to poor women.

"We are giving money to corrupt organizations like Planned Parenthood that are committing crimes and enabling young minor girls and covering up issues I don't even want to talk about it because it is so disgusting," Bachmann fulminated.

"This organization has by their own records performed 324,008 abortions in 2008 and 2009," she insisted, "and that’s in addition to the trafficking of underage girls that has gone on under Planned Parenthood’s nose.”

Asked what evidence there was to support Bachmann's claims about involvement in sex trafficking, a spokesperson pointed to a heavily-edited video released last February by an associate of James O'Keefe, whose videos of ACORN employees allegedly fostering underage prostitution led to the Congressional defunding of that organization. Lisa Rose's video similarly appeared to show a Planned Parenthood clinic manager advising a pimp on how to run his operation.

4. It's Time To Tell It As It Is About The Right's Campaign Against Planned Parenthood!
It's time for people interested in reproductive rights and personal privacy to tell it like it is about the Radical Right's campaign against Planned Parenthood. It isn't really about abortion--abortion is the bloody shirt that attracts most of the troops who are against abortion. The Radical Right's campaign against Planned Parenthood is about denying women and girls access to birth control and gynecological care. And it is increasingly clear that despite the years of denials, right-wing Republicans are just about as much anti-birth control as they are anti-abortion, and that voters should recognize that fact and take appropriate action at the polls.

6. And Michelle Bachmann is a LIAR -
The only positive about the rethug's current level of delusion is it's actually easier to tell a teabagger (like my cousin and a few co-workers) that whatever they're spouting simply isn't true - no room for debate. Over the last six months, several people at work (who have voted republican in the past) have joined in and agreed with me.

These crazy batshit lies that they're spewing is turning off everyone but the already insane base... and that's a good thing.

8. That is good news. I think this is happening all over the country
They see that the Republican Enterprise in it's current state is Anti-American and will destroy America. It frightens them because they realize that if the crazies come into power they will be the next in line to be crushed because they refuse to follow the rigid religious dogma that would be forced on Americans.

10. I'm Planning Some Mischief In The GOP Primaries Next Year
I'm thinking of committing some mischief in the Republican primaries next year, if I've got enough cash. I'm hoping to make contributions to the batshit-craziest Republican zanies in the hope that they'll help drag dozens of GOPsters down to defeat.

This isn't a first amendment issue, she just yelled fire in the crowded theater.

12. Maybe if this were the U.K.

Don't they have stricter libel and slander laws?

Besides, this isn't even the worst thing a politician has said. Remember the late Jesse Helms (R-NC) suggesting that Bill Clinton needed protection if he was coming down to North Carolina?

Of course the media will be snoozing, or too busy talking about Anthony Weiner, to call Bachmann out on this. If she'd said something to upset Roger Ailes and Fox News, you can bet the Freepers, talk radio, cable TV, and the Internets would go wild.

Mind you, I do hope she keeps talking, reminds people what a maniac sounds like.

9. If she really believes that then she should demand they all be arrested...NOW. In front of cameras.

If not, then she's another full of shit GOP demagogue saying anything to people of faith who are emotionally invested in the issue.

11. For some bizarre reason, the media...
...takes her seriously as a potential presidential candidate. But she's not mainstream enough to pull that off. Throwing red meat to the base works at the Faith and Freedom conference. It isn't going to play when Bachmann has to walk outside that hotel, and her comfort zone.

18. Death Squads In Central America Have Killed For Such
Right-wing death squads in Central America have killed doctors, nurses, and other health providers for providing health care to poor women. Such killings tended to be widely ignored by the American fundamentalist/evangelical right.

21. Anecdotally, I know, but my former SBC missionary family member,
who was living in Honduras in the late 80's and early 90's, believes that those killed brought it on themselves. :puke:
