Sarah Palin badly mangles the story of Paul Revere’s ride in statement
Source: Raw Replay
By David Ferguson

In Boston, yesterday, former Alaska Governor and possible 2012 contender Sarah Palin kept mum about her plans to run or not run for President, but she did share some fairly jumbled thoughts on the story of Paul Revere’s famous midnight ride, “…he who warned the British that they weren’t gonna be takin’ away our arms, uh, by ringin’ those bells and, um, makin’ sure as he’s ridin’ his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that were gonna be secure and we were gonna be free. And we were gonna be armed.”

CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin deadpans to the camera, “History lesson from Sarah Palin on the Midnight Ride of Paul Revere”. For the record, no shots were fired nor bells rung on the famous ride along the Freedom Trail.

36. The best column written about Sarah Palin, ever....
was this scathing piece by Fareed Zakaria in 2008:

"Palin Is Ready? Please."
http://www.newsweek.com/2008/09/26/palin-is-ready-please.html

Zakaria simply took Palin's own words and pointed out that they MADE NO SENSE. They were vapid, meaningless word salad, strung together by someone who is not very smart:

"PALIN: That's why I say I, like every American I'm speaking with, were ill about this position that we have been put in where it is the taxpayers looking to bail out. But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health-care reform that is needed to help shore up our economy, helping the—it's got to be all about job creation, too, shoring up our economy and putting it back on the right track. So health-care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans. And trade, we've got to see trade as opportunity, not as a competitive, scary thing. But one in five jobs being created in the trade sector today, we've got to look at that as more opportunity. All those things under the umbrella of job creation. This bailout is a part of that."

Zakaria wrote: "This is nonsense—a vapid emptying out of every catchphrase about economics that came into her head. ....

Can we now admit the obvious? Sarah Palin is utterly unqualified to be vice president....she has never spent a day thinking about any important national or international issue, and this is a hell of a time to start."

2. They also weren't known as the British to the Minutemen
They were known as the regulars. He didn't say, 'the British are coming!" He said, "the Regulars are here".

21. Yep, as the colonists were subjects of the Crown they would have thought of themselves as "British".

They referred to the British army as "regulars" (as opposed to "militia"). Or "Redcoats," "loyalists," etc.

40. You know, that's a really good observation

By comparison, Bushisms were endearing.

"...how hard it is to put food on your family."

"...they never stop thinking of ways to harm this country, and neither do we."

"Fool me once, shame on... shame on you... You fool me, can't get fooled again."

Even Dan Quayle - "What a waste it is to lose one's mind" - made more sense than this random word generator.

35. I *think* she meant "we were gonna be secure"
I think she was trying to say that Paul Revere sent the British a message with warning shots and bells that Americans were going to be secure, free, and armed.

Of, course, Paul Revere's message was not meant for the British. It did not involve either warning shots or bells. (I suspect she got the "bells" from some vague memory of the lantern hung in the church steeple.) And the rest probably came from right-wing dog-whistle slogans about being "armed and free" or "armed and secure."

So if you carefully disentangle the word salad, and take out the misremembered bits about horses and bells, what you get is Sarah Palin sending a coded message to her supporters that her bus tour is doing exactly the same thing as Paul Revere, who "warned the British that they weren’t gonna be takin’ away our arms ... that <we> were gonna be secure and we were gonna be free. And we were gonna be armed."

Makes perfect sense.

Apparently, he was also quite a good dentist most notably it tooth restoration and replacement. He was also apparently a pioneer in rudimentary orthodontics and forensic dental identification. Pretty cool... I hadn't known this about him... I thought he just made pots and whatnot and copper engravings.

17. Many "Palin4 Prezdent" -like blogs and websites
post Palin & family-related articles and videos, and receive commentary on them from their peanut galleries with most, if not all of them prefacing her name as being "Governor Palin", and not former or ex-governor, but as if she is still Alaska's governor. They must "think" that by doing so it lends some type of additional importance, credence or legitimacy to their belief that Scarah should become the next POTUS, despite the fact that she resigned from office long before her one and only term was over.

be shooting and ringing bells, and hollering about how "We're free and we're gonna be armed!!!11!1" like a jackass would have been a suicide mission.
