Sean Penn and Haiti: "I’m still here."
Edited on Wed Jan-05-11 05:19 PM by Contrary1
Somebody needs to alert Lady Blah Blah.

"It’s Christmas Eve in Haiti, and while the rest of the world is slowing down, Sean Penn is speeding up.

His fingers gripped tight on the handrail of a mud-splattered SUV, gulping cigarette smoke like oxygen, he’s wiry, intense, haggard, his hooded eyes alert to every move, emotions clenched tight as a fist, as his car lurches through a hilly slum, ironically named Bel Air.

Half-naked children clamber around the crumbling shacks. A family stews food on the porch of a building stamped with red letters, meaning it’s destined for demolition — only the place is still here, and so is the family.

It’s a bad set designer’s version of the apocalypse, except that it’s real — especially for Penn, 50, who’s been a fixture in Haiti since moving here almost immediately after the Jan. 12, 2010, earthquake that threw the country into chaos, and the actor’s own life, too..."

:applause:Good on you, MR. Penn.

1. So why did you start off a post praising one celebrity by attacking another?
 Were you deliberately trying to undermine the impact of your post by diverting it into a needless pissing match over which liberal activist entertainer is most worthy?

2. I don't think "Blah Blah" means "Ga-Ga."
I think it's someone else, you betcha.

5. "Lady Blah Blah" = Sarah
You know, the Wasilla wonder who showed up in Haiti last month and bitched about the lack of aid.

9. Just wish he'd quit smoking.
Don't want to lose a good guy like him. Sean, get thee on Chantix!

Or do whatever it is that the crazy guy Will Pitt did and quit.

10. Love Sean Penn. He was one of the first Hollywood activists
to speak out about Bush and was punished by losing a contract. But rather than remain silent, and it was scary back then, even some of the usually vocal activists admitted they were staying quiet out of fear, he sued and won.

I can't imagine what it's like to live there for a year. I do worry about him, he is so intense and takes things so much to heart.

I remember him being in NOLA also, way before Chertoff/Bush/Brownie et al got around to doing anything about it. He got a boat and went around rescuing people. Who knows how many lives he saved.

Good for him ~ there are good rich people in this world. It's easy to forget that sometimes.

12. It won't surprise me if
he ends up buying a nice estate down there. I doubt it'll be reported
but I really distrust HollyWood Do-Gooders. Penn gets dirtier than
most but you can bet he has some angle going.

14. The same Penn who said:
""I got practical issues … I had just got taken for one half of everything I had in the divorce, so it's not like I don't have to work."
