Anthony Weiner hires attorney in Twitter incident
New York Rep. Anthony Weiner has retained an attorney to advise him “what civil or criminal actions should be taken” after a lewd picture was sent from his Twitter account.

Weiner, who has represented part of New York City since 1998, says online hacking led to a close-up shot of a man’s underwear being sent from his official Twitter account Saturday night.

Dave Arnold, a spokesman for Weiner, said the Congressman’s staff is “loathe to treat” this incident as more than a prank “but we are relying on professional advice.”

Wouldn't it be be incredibly delicious if Rep. Weiner was the guy who finally brought Breitbart down?

2. WTF are you talking about? How does anybody treat personal online hacking in a '"bipartisan" way'?

List the Democrats who have done so under similar circumstances. It's ridiculous to suggest Weiner is unique and use this issue to attack Democrats.

3. Good sign so far.
Let's hope the party administration or one of Obama's advisors doesn't try strong-arm him into backing off of the lawsuit. Or if they do, he stands up to it.

6. Oh please, this isn't about your feelings about Obama. Why
on Earth would anyone beside the right wing mouth breathers care about Breitbart's reputation? Don't be ridiculous.

12. Someone with power cares about him and that's all he needs.

Despite the many times he has been caught ruining people's lives, he is still given credibility by the MSM. Only one organization has kept up the pressure on the media to stop using him as a legitimate source for political commentary. Van Jones' organization, another victim of Breitbart who was immediately 'resigned' rather than take on this lunatic, Color of Change has fought consistently to try to bring down this racist, clown. But without much help from the Dem. Party.

Congressional Democrats voted with Republicans to defund ACORN based on the racist stunts of Breitbart/O'Keefe and Giles. Only 75 Democrats voted against it. And they did so without even looking at the proof that the whole thing was a lie.

So, why has been allowed to get this far when there many opportunities to stop him? Shirley Sherrod is another example of Democrats backing away and refusing to defend her against this guy. If she had not stood up for herself, they would have left her without a job, with her reputation ruined and Breitbart free to do it to the next person.

When it comes to Breitbart/O'Keefe and whoever is funding them, I haven't seen the Dems do much other than look the other way or actively help him, as in the ACORN vote, to continue to do what he does.

I have a feeling Weiner WILL get a call to just treat it as a prank, and we will hear nothing more about it. That would be the standard way of dealing with this psycho. Someone needs to find out who is funding him. HE goes wild when anyone asks him that question.

4. I'd think hacking into a US Congressman's account is akin to breaking into their office. No?

10. Two, three, four years ago, not sure how long but wasn't it discovered
that the email server for the Democratic congress or senate had been hacked.

Does anyone remember how that turned out?

13. I'd say it's probably akin to breaking into their office when they leave the keys in the door.
Can't really see the rational for suing over Twitter considering everything posted on there is public anyway.

16. I am not sure I understand you
Are you saying that if someone hacks into another's account and sends inappropriate material under the owners name, it is ok, since anything the owner posts is public anyway? i just need clarification on what you are saying.

15. EXCELLENT!!!!! ANY time we hear some breitbart shit, the FIRST thing anybody should do
is send lawyers out after his ass.

Make him pay. Make it cost him - and more likely, the money-people who prop him up. Build him a "profile" that's as long as Methuselah's beard. Bring on the headaches and legal problems and consequences and bad press - which will only spread and reinforce his growing reputation as a nogoodnik and a slander/libel spreader, besmirching his credibility (not that he'd care, but other people who count might).

Vermin like him only pull this shit because they can, because nobody stops them or even tries to, because no one speaks out or voices objection, or actually TAKES ACTION, much less any action WITH TEETH. They continue pulling this shit because there are no consequences for doing so. Until now, I hope.

GO ANTHONY WEINER!!! Smack him around but good!!!

23. ...or if Breitbart is funding the hacker...
...ala James O'Keefe, perhaps there is civil if not criminal liability to be accounted for?

All I know is, if hacking and other shnaggins (that's short for "shenanigans") like this happens from the left, it is condemned/punished to the fullest extent possible, by everybody.

Sometimes the accused liberal offender even self-punishes his own self in public! (i.e., E. Schultz).
