Wisc. GOP: Raise individual power rates; lower business rates

A bill to provide special discounts for manufacturers on their power rates is raising questions about whether small businesses and homeowners would have to pay more so that certain factories can pay less.

Republican lawmakers are considering the discounts as a tool to help Wisconsin's economy grow.

The economic development rates bill, Assembly Bill 145, was introduced this month by Rep. John Klenke (R-Green Bay), a former executive at the trucking firm Schneider National. An Assembly committee held a hearing on the bill Wednesday.

The bill would expand a pilot program to offer a discount of up to $5 million over five years to Mercury Marine, the final piece of a more than $120 million state-and-local financing package that helped the engine maker decide not to move to Oklahoma.

2. Nothing more than corporate welfare
I thought the Regressive Party was against all forms of welfare.
I also thought the Regressive Party believed in the free market system

It looks and sounds like the Regressive Party is nothing more than liars.
