Taliban co-founder tipped off US on Osama bin Laden hideout: Report
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/pakistan/Taliban-co-founder-tipped-off-US-on-Osama-bin-Laden-hideout-Report/articleshow/8646343.cms

LONDON: A Taliban leader tipped-off the US about where Osama bin Laden was hiding in Pakistan, a media report here said.

The mirror.co.uk cited secret papers found at Osama's high-walled compound in Pakistan's Abbottabad city as suggesting that the al-Qaida chief's cover was blown by his trusted ally, Taliban co-founder Mullah Abdul Baradar.

Washington, in return, offered to take back its troops from Taliban strongholds in Afghanistan after Osama was either killed or captured.

Osama was gunned down May 2 by US commandos.

Till now, it was believed that Osama was traced after the US intercepted a phone call made by his courier Abu Ahmed al-Kuwaiti.

1. Bullshit. The Mirror is a nutty British tabloid best used to wipe one's bum. How would they know?

Since when would they have gained access to "secret papers" in OBL's hideout?

8. Thank you.
Really tired of indiscriminate posting of "provocative" stories without considering the nature of the sources. If you read this article with brain engaged, there are too many things wrong with it to easily list here. But people use crap like this to leverage whatever emotional/ideological response they're prone too.

(And why would evidence that the tipoff came from a Taliban co-founder be found in BIN LADIN'S papers? "Note to myself: I've been betrayed and the Seals will be here in a few hours.")

10. And why would the papers be IN OBL's hideout?
obl had a copy but just hadn't read it yet? Or wasn't worried about it?

Oh I know, the Seals brought the secret papers with them on their mission.

No, it must be the CIA was staying with obl there and had it hidden in their underwear drawer

5. That is the purpose of dis-information
I would suspect that some hope it results in deaths.

4. of course there was some deal-making involved
that shouldn't surprise anybody. if it was taliban that gave him up, that shouldn't surprise people either, because why would they want to be associated with a bunch of wash-ups like al-queda?

9. This makes zero sense.. why would "secret papers" to out Osama be in Osama's hideout??
Edited on Mon May-30-11 10:50 AM by DCBob
If so, then Osama would have known about this "secret plan" and would not have been caught. Hardly something Baradar would accidentally leave lying around Osama's crib after a camel steak and porn watching party.
