Quote from "The Barbaric Heart" about capitalism and war
"Capitalism creates a worker who is as stupid and ignorant as it is possible for a human creature to become. It is also free to be intensely interested in the resources of other people, especially natural resources like oil, with the consequent inevitability of wars, most of which will be fought by the very workers it has so shrewdly and methodically impoverished and made stupid. Worst of all, capitalism will feel under no compulsion to explain itself to its subjects except in the banalities of patriotic jingoism. In short, this economic system is systematically contemptuous of the people living under it." - Curtis White

I STRONGLY recommend this book to every liberal, progressive, Democrat, Independent, any person still capable of thought. It is astounding.

3. I don't know much about him
My friend recommended this book, which takes a whole different approach to our issues. We can't play within the system, we have to reinvent the system, is some of what I get out of it, but not all, of course. One of the most honest, thought-provoking books I have read in years.
