DU 10th Anniversary Questions - How did you find DU

In celebration of the upcoming 10th anniversary of DU - post here how you found DU and when you joined. Doesn't matter when you joined, we want to hear from all of you!

I joined sometime around the end of May 2001. I found DU thru their Top 10 Idiots list. At the time I was posting at a Yahoo Group for democrats and someone posted the link to the Top 10 list there.

At the time I didn't have a decent internet connection at home, and he'd print up the Top Ten Idiots and bring it home to me every week. Finally got a better internet connection and started coming here myself.

fraud in about mid-Nov. (Kerry/Bush). I joined the first week in Dec. 2004 ( I was following Andy Stephenson in Fla. digging stuff out of dumpsters).

19. I stumbled onto DU December 2004 trying to make sense

out of the election. I probably lurked before that for a short time, but my membership began then. Kerry's loss and Bush's policies sent me on the road searching for other people who had similar ideas. Although some here are more conservative and some are more progressive, I feel comfortable here. Skinner and the mods do a great job!

23. No joke: I googled "democrat*" and "underground" looking for a place for Democrats that wasn't

affiliated with the official party. I think I'd seen a link to it on MWO but didn't pay any attention to it; perhaps that's where I got the idea for my google.

I lurked for a long time (about 15 minutes) before I knew I'd found a home.

it was sometime in 2003 but I lurked for a really long time and I think that I joined after the 2004 election.

I do remember that I stuck around because I found really good discussions here then.

28. Believe it or not, I found it through FR. I had stumbled onto FR in a search

for a news item. I lurked over there for a while (in 2004-2005 they still had some sane members that actually discussed topics) and kept seeing all the references to the "dummies" over at DU. I checked out DU and found it much more to my way of thinking and joined in January, 2005.

Followed a link to here from Politico.com during the run up to the last Presidential election. Found a place that was refreshingly left compared to the rest of the world. Lurked for a year before joining. Somebody bought me a star last September. The more I hang out and learn here, the lefter I get.

I was pissed, bored and fired up at the office one day after one of my Republican bosses (who outnumber me here!) had given me yet another lecture about how bad I was for being a liberal. So I googled and up came the weblink for DU. I think that was sometime in 2001, and I lurked for an eternity. I finally joined officially in 2004 with tears in my eyes because we were facing another four years of George!
