for those who complain of the democrats being too
conservative, when one looks at the interest ratings, I would say that there are really very few moderates or even mainstream conservatives or mainstream liberals.

Here is who I would call a moderate (in the US House):
Collin Peterson
Mike McIntyre
Dan Boren
Dave Reichert

Here is who I call a mainstream liberal:
Mike Ross
Dennis Cardoza
Jim Costa
Joe Donnelly
Leonard Boswell
Ben Chandler
Heath Shuler
Jason Altmire
Mark Critz
Tim Holden
Jim Cooper
Silvestre Reyes
Gene Green

Here is what I call a mainstream conservative:
Don Young
Mary Bono Mack
Brian Bilbray
Vern Buchanan
Ileana Ros-Lehtinen
Judie Biggert
Tim Johnson (Illinois)
Fred Upton
Frank LoBiondo
Chris Smith
Leonard Lance
Rodney Frelinghuysen
Peter King
Mike Turner
Steve LaTourette
Jim Gerlach
Charlie Dent
Tim Murphy
Todd Platts
Shelly Capito
Tom Petri

everyone else for the most part is either a hard left liberal or hard right conservative

2. Jason Altmire and Heath Shuler are hardly "liberals".
Edited on Sun May-29-11 09:41 PM by femmocrat
I would consider them blue-dogs. Shuler is one of the most conservative dems in the HR.

Critz is not a liberal. His campaign ads even stated that the was "pro-gun and pro-life".

if you call him a liberal of any sort your idea might work, but in reality that's crazy. I don't know about the others

The people with a rating of 40-59, I classified as a moderate. The people with a rating of 20-39, I classified as a mainstream liberal. The people with a rating of 0-19, I classified as a hard-left liberal.

7. There are a tiny few Liberals in Congress.
Just because one votes for the far-right option instead of the insane-right option, that does not make them a Liberal. Precious few Democrats will go to the mat for working Americans, for world-class health care financing, for unions, or against job-obliterating "free" trade.

10. Let's analyze Dan Boren.
http://www.tulsaworld.com/news/article.aspx?articleID=20080610_1__WASHI08203

"WASHINGTON -- U.S. Rep. Dan Boren, D-Okla., said Tuesday he will not endorse Barack Obama for president.

"I still remain very concerned about the (Obama) voting record being the most liberal of the United States Senate," said Boren, a superdelegate to this summer’s national Democratic convention in Denver.

He expressed support for what he described as a "centrist" agenda, adding his party’s presumptive nominee’s record does not reflect that approach."
