Pak-US ties to suffer if drone attacks not stopped: Dr Firdous
ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet was informed on Friday that a preliminary investigation report on the terrorist attack at the PNS Mehran would be presented to the federal government within the next 48 hours.

“Interior Minister Rehman Malik briefed the cabinet about the details of the PNS Mehran investigation, the preliminary report of which is going to be presented within the next 48 hours,” Information Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan told journalists after the cabinet meeting held here at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.

Dr Firdous said it was decided at the meeting that a special cabinet meeting would be held with a single-point agenda of reviewing the security situation in the country. She did not specify the date of the meeting but said arrangements were being made for it. She also added that the interior minister would present a detailed briefing to the cabinet on the security situation in the country at the planned meeting.

Dr Firdous said Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, who chaired the meeting, directed Rehman Malik to chalk out an effective mechanism to improve the security measures and strengthen coordination among the provincial governments. He also asked the interior minister to take all chief ministers on board in this regard.
