MSNBC Suspends Ed Schultz For A Week
Schultz will take a week off MSNBC's airwaves after he called conservative radio host Laura Ingraham a "right wing slut" on his radio show Tuesday.

"Remarks of this nature are unacceptable and will not be tolerated," MSNBC said in a statement.

Shultz will "address" the statement on his 10 p.m. MSNBC primetime show Wednesday, the network said.

Ingraham responded to news of the suspension via Twitter.

"MSNBC suspends Schultz," she wrote. "Oh great, now his ratings will go up."

6. "wildly inappropriate"?
Language like that is the spoken equivalent of sexual violence. It doesn't come out of your mouth unless it's in your heart.

I got a mouth that would cause a drunken sailor to go red, but sexual epithets are not a part of my vocabulary - never mind actually saying it on a national broadcast!

9. I cannot agree
Violence is violence and your statement is, IMO, complete and vaguely ridiculous hyperbole. There was no incitement to violence in Ed's words, just a harsh and vituperative opinion about a loathesome individual.

Reichwing goons say far worse things about people, including the POTUS, every hour of every day and they go on their merry ways, lionized by their audiences and much of the M$M. From some of the things being said around DU, one would think that Ed had said something as over the top as the Phelps neanderthals make their stock in trade. He did not.

10. nice double standard there
If this were some right-winger saying the same thing about one of our female pundits instead of the other way around, this place would be up in arms about it and rightfully so.

11. "This place" might be in an uproar
but I wouldn't be. It's what I expect from those jackass reichwingers. Criticizing them for being boorish, which is at worst what Ed was, is like criticizing a cow for saying "moo." It's who they are and what they do. And they say far worse things about, for instance, Nancy Pelosi, every day and are never called on it by the M$M.

2. Ed volunteered his own suspension
according to his statement last night. MSNBC accepted. He did the honorable thing.

3. Funny... I don't recall any consequences for Rush Limbaugh calling13-Y.O. Chelsea Clinton a "dog".
I'm not surprised, however. It seems the Right Wing has no standards of decency.

8. The suspension is justified. I just wish right-wing TV and radio would follow MSNBC's lead.
Ed Schultz was dead wrong in saying what he said. There are ways of attacking Laura Ingraham's extremist politics without stooping to misogynistic BS.

Progressive commentators need to be better than their insulting, misogynistic, disgusting right-wing counterparts, who rarely get even a slap on the wrist for denigrating Democrats in the most foul of ways. MSNBC looks good when it shows this no-tolerance policy toward its employees. Fox looks ridiculous for not following suit.
