Initially, I had a knee jerk reaction to Ed Schultz calling Ingram a slut
but upon further reflection, I think all the handwringing and strong indignation is over the top.

Yes, I agree that just because the other side does it, our side shouldn't jump in, and yes, it's a stupid slur based on gender, but wouldn't an official reprimand have sufficed instead of a suspension?

I don't like Ed Schultz. I don't find him thoughtful or particularly smart, and I'm no fan of the blowhard school of broadcasting, but the overreaction to his comment strikes me as curious. Rush Limbaugh for instance, has said worse, almost daily, for years. No, make that decades.

2. What is an "official reprimand" in a private employment relationship?
Your knee jerk reaction was actually a gut feeling, and those often are to be trusted.

Ed used a comment as a weapon against this vile person's sex. And, yes, the radio and TV loonies on the right have said worse, but their listeners feed on the lowest of the low. If MSNBC wants to keep me as a viewer, they'll keep the bar higher than it is set at FOX and other lowlife broadcasters.

3. When Limbaugh attempted to step out of the cesspool of
right wing radio, he did indeed pay for his rotten drivel:

I'm not interested in watching or listening to anyone mimic Fox News or right wing radio, the idiocracy is already too strong in this country. Ed did the right thing, he knew he was wrong and apologized for it.

4. I think it's good he apologized
it was the right thing. I think the suspension is a bit much.

6. First Question: is she? All these right wing radio propagandists are...
in the metaphorical sense. If I were in broadcasting I would never call anyone that on air and I certainly don't ever use the word. I really don't care for Laura Ingram, so I wouldn't waste any energy calling the word police for her.

Ed is not always the most tactful and sometimes leaves me scratching my head, wondering why he is so obtuse sometimes.

Maybe he'll get some more listeners.

Those are my random thoughts on the subject.

7. I had no reaction. I only know his name from having read it here.
Republicans have their talking heads that they believe are their conservative gods who always speak the truth and they hang on their every word.

Democrats have their talking heads that they believe are their Liberal gods who always speak the truth and they hang on their every word.

8. Try finding a liberal voice on the radio while driving across "the flyover states"
About as likely as finding an albino blacksnake.
