Montel Williams Busted with Drug Pipe

1/4/2011 5:50 PM PST by TMZ Staff

Montel Williams was cited for packing a marijuana pipe at the airport in Milwaukee today ... according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.

Cops say TSA busted the former talk show host with a metal pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana ... as he went through security.

The pipe -- which was in his carry-on -- set off a metal detector. We're told there was no residue.

Montel is a long time advocate of medical marijuana -- which he uses to manage pain related to multiple sclerosis.

Montel was released after paying a $484 citation for possession of drug paraphernalia. The sheriff's department tells us Montel was very mellow cooperative.

3. Just think of what would have happened if not for TSA.
That pipe would have gotten right onto the plane.

7. How is this illegal???
I fly out of chicago o'hare when i come back to france from visiting family in the usa and i have a new glass pipe every time. Getting good glass pipes in france is damn near impossible, no stores sell the good thick ones and in the netherlands where they do they are 70 euros! back in chicago you get good thick glass pipes for 50 dollars so i buy a new one each time. i had no idea i was breaking any law. i was always told that the pipe could be sold, bought, and trasported as long as there was no residue. is what i do really illegal?
