Millionaire tea party Rep. insists he ‘ain’t wealthy’
Source: RawReplay
By Stephen C. Webster

During a recent town hall meeting, tea party favorite Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ), elected during last year’s Republican wave in the U.S. House of Representatives, told a group of constituents that he wasn’t really wealthy.

“I ain’t wealthy,” he said, according to video of the event. “… I live just like the rest of you folks.”

His mandatory financial disclosures reveal otherwise: specifically, that Gosar’s net worth is over $2 million. He also earns a yearly salary of approximately $174,000 as a member of Congress.

To be fair, the congressman did insist that his wealth was “all on paper” and “not in cash,” which is likely true.

1. We need to brand the Republican wave as something negative
Perhaps the "Wave of Garbage." I'm going to start calling it the Wave of Garbage.

3. Having $2 million
in assets doesn't make one wealthy - especially if a large portion of that is paper assets.

To be sure, $2 million is a very nice cushion but it isn't enough to be rich - you;ll still have to have an income to maintain a comfortable lifestyle and secure healthcare for yourself and your family.

5. Yes, He is Not Wealthy. He is Upper-Middle Class
He has what a lot of financial analysts recommend as the amount needed for a couple to retire.

However, he does have more income and more stability than most of his fellow voters. That makes a huge difference in your priorities.

4. No, Mr. Gosar, you don't live "like the rest" of us folks
Try living your life on a quarter of your current salary, without pension or retirement, and paying for your own health and dental coverage for every penny of premium over $500 a month. Then you'd be living a little more like the people you're presuming to lecture on fiscal responsibility.

7. Wealthy is a relative term. Compared to some African countries
I am not poor. Compared to the billionaires he thinks he is not wealthy. This is truly a matter of being greedy or being content. Most of us, even those of us who are poor, are no longer content. Most of the top earners of this nation are just greedy.
