8. Frogs don't sweat
There! I've totally discredited this silly cartoon, which isn't sensible in the least, and you people should be ashamed of yourselves for wanting John McCain to be president! Hope! Change! Not my fault you weren't paying attention to Candidate Obama, and heard only what he was saying.

23. Poppycock!
Nothing in the interwebs is validated unless the author of the claim offers blue links to previous posts by him or her as proof, as stated by the properties of the only real kind of reasoning: circular.

Amen.

we can ask questions about stuff. I mean critical thinking is about asking questions, sometimes inconvenient ones.

Oops......forget I said that. :eyes:

13. Yes, that was a shock, at the time. Especially after his
speech on the very same subject.

What are they afraid of, really? Do they even care what we think anymore? If everything that has been exposed so far hasn't caused them any problems, what could there possibly be that we don't know that they don't want us to know?

18. They don't want us to know what is going to happen next.
Don't be mistaken- All the things that have happened have come at a cost. Soon it will be time to pay the price.

Shield your eyes. This is going to be one of those "flip-the-board-over" moments. (Funny thought just came to me: The rapture guy might be vindicated. "See, I was off by just a couple of days...")

Get ready for the paradigm shift.

Watch the Great Lakes states. Those Republican governors are going to light right up.

The future is Benton Harbor.

The SCOTUS has done its work:

Narrowing the honest services act

AT&T Mobility LLC v. Concepcion

I could write more, but I need to wake up in five hours.

36. Really,
they do not appear to care even a tiny bit what we think. Something is fundamentally messed up in this country. Democrats attacking unions? Democrats proposing cutting medicare and social security. Democrats firmly against transparency. Democrats against whistle blowers and consumer protection. WTF?

And they don't even care at all about this:

Edited on Tue May-24-11 12:44 AM by villager
...this evening. It will pass the House then get Mr. Constitution's signature.

Perhaps he studied it to learn effective ways to keep dismantling it?

21. "National Security State" has been with us since I guess Nixon ... ?
And now with the Patriot Act -- the extention of which we're hearing little

about at DU -- it's even more horrendous and ominous.

Americans have to understand that this is about controlling the population --

as torture is about controlling the population --

Secret government, torture and wiretapping do not deliver democracy -- they

are the tools of dictatorships.

24. Way before Nixon.
Edited on Tue May-24-11 12:55 PM by liberation
People were prosecuted for belonging to the wrong kind of party well before Nixon, and even before that American people were shot by American troops on American soil for interfering with corporate well being, and before that people were exterminated for having crossed the Bering straight before the White man crossed the Atlantic, while people were being snatched from another continent and forced to work for free to provide this country with its first large capital injection from agriculture.

We love to think this country has always been something else, when it has always being the same: an engine of capital production and transformation. Every major policy/event in this country, almost from day 1, has been based first and foremost around capital. Even the patriot act and anti-wishtle blowing stances by this administration.

31. Right -- McCarthy Era .... MIC ....
Hard to say when it actually became so organized and technological --

What is being done now with FISA/wiretapping wasn't possible during Nixon's

time because there was no internet. But, it was happening.

Keep on tellin' it!!

27. This administration has produced a great recipe for frog soup.
Entice frogs with an attractive pot.

Display an unattractive pot as the only alternative.

Reassure the frogs that becoming soup is for their own good.
