AP Exclusive: Former Palin aide pens tell-all

By BECKY BOHRER, Associated Press Becky Bohrer, Associated Press – Mon May 23, 12:37 pm ET

JUNEAU, Alaska – A former member of Sarah Palin's inner circle has written a scathing tell-all, saying Palin was ready to quit as governor months before she actually resigned and was eager to leave office when more lucrative opportunities came around.

"In 2009 I had the sense if she made it to the White House and I had stayed silent, I could never forgive myself," Frank Bailey told The Associated Press.

Palin's attorney did not respond to multiple requests for comment for this story.

"Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin: A Memoir of Our Tumultuous Years" is due out Tuesday and based on tens of thousands of emails that Bailey said he kept during his time with Palin. It began with working on her 2006 gubernatorial campaign and continued through her failed run for vice president in 2008 and her brief stint as governor.

1. Books like this are usually full of a lot of self serving half truths

I'm guessing that this one may be the exception to that rule.

I'll read it, for sure.

2. "But as long as there was a paycheck in it for me
I was willing to work to make it happen. Now that the paychecks have stopped, it's time for my book."

Advice: Don't look for a chapter on Mr. Bailey in any updated version of "Profiles in Courage."

3. He speaks of "wasted potential". He actually thinks she cares about
public service! He actually thinks she was interested in accomplishing something. With that comment, he shows how little he understands this nitwit.

4. "Getting Sarah to meetings and events was like nailing Jell-O to a tree"
What? The Inauguration is TODAY? I didn't think we had actually agreed upon a date

State of the Union? Which state of the union? Is it Alaska? It's tomorrow? How can a state be tomorrow?

6. I think Frank's book will be really good.
He had lots of personal experience with the e-mails to back up his accounts, and his co-writers include the inimitable Jeanne Devon of The Mudflats. It should be a great read.
