New freePC software from AVG I am testing, take a look

AVG link scanner for Firefox and IE versions

http://linkscanner.avg.com/

Checks each web page in real time before it opens on your computer
Automatically updates whenever a new threat is discovered
It’s quick and easy to install, won’t get in your way, and it’s FREE

Compatible with Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebytes, Iobit, and XoftSpySE.

Looks like a very good product, and free. We need a good link scanner, AVG stepped up.

OH and the toolbar is unnecessary, uncheck BOTH boxes, enjoy.

1. AVG Internet Security long time user...
I just go ahead and buy their comprehensive full package, that includes link scanner along with about two dozen other features.

Yes, it works well.

2. Works pretty well, but still possible to get trojans and viruses. Have to pay after trial
period expires for updates. A good product, but not infallible - there is no such thing as safe surfing, this just makes it less risky.

Another, similar free anti-virus package is Avast - give it try. It's also good. Runs with the others.

5. I wouldn't count on AVG alone.

AVG let a virus in on me and I switched. But I still use an antivirus + a firewall + a clutter cleaner thingy. All my stuff is the free versions now. I used to use paid Norton when it was still good and not a burden on the system, then I had graduated from free AVG to PAID AVG, and that was the one that let me down, so I don't think whether it's free or whether it's paid is always the way to figure out what works the best.

I use Avast too now, the free version.

3. I used to use AVG until I found Prevx.
Prevx is the best on the market, even though it has to be bought.

Check out this chart:

4. I misread the OP as "New freePER software from AVG I am testing, take a look"
Too much Rapturing go on, I guess.
I already have enough Nannyware on my computer and AT&T 'High Speed' DSL is already slow enough. Plus I don't use AVG after having too much trouble with it a year or so ago.

6. Used to use
AVG both free and commercial, at first it was fine, nice and compact and reasonably fast, after a while it became more and more bloated and slower and slower. Went to Kaspersky and have been more than satisfied with it, they have been in the anti virus business longer than the others and just recently went after home users business.
I have some problems with charts (as from Prevx) shown as proof of a products effectiveness that is produced by the company that is attempting to show how good they are, need more independent proof.

7. Nothing beats Kaspersky. Never been hacked and no viruses for over 15 years.

9. I do these to help. maybe since there is so much negativity and these are so misunderstood, I stop
This is NOT A FUCKIN REPLACEMENT FOR YOUR CHERISHED ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAMS, just an adjunct.

Jesus Christ.

11. AVG is very good.
Have installed the free version on many friends' computers and they are trouble-free.

Use the paid version at home.

12. AVG
Is a good trustworthy company, great software, that link scanner is a pretty decent add on to help any Av software that doesn't have browsing protection in it, being free is even better.
