Maybe we aren't so bad off in the future: My 8 yo Son
Edited on Fri May-20-11 06:01 PM by Taverner
He heard at school that Osama bin Laden was killed, he was at first happy.

Then he asked: "Why did we want to kill him?"

I replied: "Because ordered the death of at least 2,000 people."

He thought for a second and then said:

"But doesn't that make us the bad guy, because we killed him?"

I was at a loss for words.

2. just curious, was he raised in a religion?
I'm just asking, it seems like an attitude a child might pick up at church, for example.

4. Or an attitude a child might pick up if
his parents taught him ethical thinking, which is not the exclusive province of religion.

April 30, 2009

The more often Americans go to church, the more likely they are to support the torture of suspected terrorists, according to a new survey.

More than half of people who attend services at least once a week -- 54 percent -- said the use of torture against suspected terrorists is "often" or "sometimes" justified. Only 42 percent of people who "seldom or never" go to services agreed, according to the analysis released Wednesday by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life.
