15. Gives Repubs room to move further rightward
As Obama governs to the right of Reagan, the Republicans still love to call him a 'socialist,' etc. This gives them room to push for more corporate power, more tax cuts for the rich, more Military Industrial Complex, more intrusions into our private lives, and on and on.

The Democrats love to pre-compromise, then give-away the rest of their hand during negotiations. Meanwhile, Republicans ask for the moon and stars and keep fighting until their cronies get every bit of what they want. And we wonder why the country has been on a rightward slide for ~35 years...

19. With Obama it still looks like a democracy.
The plutocrats have a good thing going with BO in the white house. So far, the Republican candidates all look like they are emerging from a clown car. Of course, if Obama starts getting some real populist notions that could all change...

38. And sadly that is all they have, more justices like that and they can finally ditch the constitution
Another win/win for fascist "center-rightism" in this country.

At one time what we now call "centrist" would have been called the far right by what was once a left wing Democratic party, the apologists can try to contradict the history of this but the facts are not on their side. They may even try to claim that the Communists were what I describe but actually they were much farther to the left of the Democratic partry even then.

In another 10 years I am sure they will call the TeaBaggers Centrists and the Radical Right will be full blown Fascists calling themselves The New Republicans or something.

The GOP agenda is in full swing and they even get to blame the Dems for doing exactly what they would do. They call it a win-win.

37. This thread is fulla
nothing but right wing smears against President Obama.

You can disagree with him all you like. You can argue that this cartoon is right all you like. But you cannot sit here and act like the President is no different than a right wing LUNATIC that would make Bush Tax Cuts permanent; That would no only escalate the War in Afghanistan but fucking BOMB IRAN; that would not have enacted ANY KIND OF HEALTH REFORM whatsoever; that would abolish medicare- ON and ON I could go-

Let's try to keep it real around here shall we? I mean afterall this IS Democratic Underground, right? We're all gonna be voting for the man if not outright campaigning for him to be re elected in 2012, right?

Right.

40. What?
Edited on Sat May-21-11 04:47 PM by Ramulux
How are the things mentioned in the cartoon right wing smears? They are all 100% true. No one forced Obama to support any of those things, that is where he stands on the issues.

Obama is a moderate conservative who supports our imperialist foreign policy, neo-liberal free-trade deals that destroy our economy, coup governments in South America, the destruction of our civil rights through the Patriot Act, the torture of whistleblowers, and massive arms deals with Saudi Arabia.

Thats just the first few things off the top of my head. He does not believe in the things that most liberals in this country believe in. He thinks we should be the police of the world, that low taxes stimulate the economy, and that free-trade will somehow magically create jobs here. There is also the fact that he doesn't support gay marriage, which to me is just fucking baffling and disgusting.
