Clay County authorities today charged a 45-year-old priest with three counts of possessing child pornography.

Shawn Francis Ratigan of Kansas City, North, was arrested by Jackson County deputies on Wednesday. He was taken into custody at the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Eucharist on Noland Road in Independence.

Bond was set at $200,000.

The actual, bizarre words are "minor women." Pornographic photos of "minor women" taken around the parish, schools, and playgrounds where he was assigned to work.

7. UPDATE: KC Diocese waited 5 MONTHS before notifying police and they destroyed evidence

Court documents said a person repairing a priest's personal laptop computer found pornographic images on the computer in December. The repair person notified the church and turned the computer over to the diocese IT department for review.

Ratigan was hospitalized for psychiatric care, the diocese made a copy of the images on the laptop and the computer was returned to Ratigan's family. Court documents said Ratigan's family then destroyed the laptop.

A disk containing the images was given to Kansas City, Mo., police detectives on May 13, who determined many of the photographs appeared to be taken in and around churches and schools associated with Ratigan.
