Montana gov vetoes abortion bill--step for reproductive rights
Montana Governor Vetoes Abortion Bill…Step for Reproductive Rights

Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer vetoed a bill May 12 that severely limited privacy for minors and restricted women’s access to reproductive health. Part of the bill required physicians to inform parents 48 hours before an abortion if a minor under age 16 was seeking the procedure. The Center for Reproductive Rights sent a letter to the governor urging him to veto the bill.

“Although the battle ahead of us is great, our commitment to defending and protecting women’s fundamental human rights will never waiver,” Nancy Northup, President of CRR, said in a press release. “Today’s victory is another step towards the day when every woman will be able to participate with full dignity as an equal member of society.”
