Democratic candidate Dan Adler began airing the first of a series of eccentric TV commercials Tuesday in the run-up to the California 36th Congressional District special election on May 17th.
In one ad, Adler speaks with a group of Korean-Americans, who note that Asians account for nearly 15 percent of voters in the district. "That's why I am here," Adler says, shortly later adding that his wife is Korean and his family is Jewish.
"We minorities should stick together," a Korean-American woman remarks.
Adler, an entertainment industry veteran, did not enter the race until five weeks ago and is competing against 15 other candidates. His campaign has purchased thousands of 30-second slots aimed at reaching those unaware of the special election.
