Meet the new jihad, same as the old jihad: Al-Qaeda warns US after bin Laden death
WASHINGTON (AFP) – Al-Qaeda's supremo in Yemen -- Osama bin Laden's ancestral homeland -- has warned Americans of a bloodier jihadist struggle to come following the terror mastermind's killing by US commandos.

AQAP leader Nasir al-Wahishi said in a statement posted on an Islamist website that the "ember of jihad (holy war) is brighter" following the May 2 death of bin Laden, according to the SITE monitoring group Wednesday.

The Yemen-based fugitive warned Americans not to fool themselves that the "matter will be over" with the killing of bin Laden, the Saudi-born architect of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

"Do not think of the battle superficially ... What is coming is greater and worse, and what is awaiting you is more intense and harmful," Wahishi said, according to a SITE translation.

1. I see a new Repub talking point
"Bin Laden's death didn't do anything and made America less safe!"

Doesn't matter who says it.

6. And its foolish to think that it didn't do anything.
We got intel on a lot of the world's terrorists and I'd be willing to bet you that some operatives are deciding to turn themselves in for some "Club Gitmo" since we don't torture there anymore. Better than blowing yourself up for a dead Messiah.

5. Holy Shit! Some dumbass in Yemen spouts off about bringing America to it's knees .
I am terrified to the bone and fully behind any effort to invade Canada to keep us safe from terror. Couple this guys statement with statements from tribesman in caves in Afghanistan and we might also want to think about invading Belgium just to be sure we have made my Aunt Pearl in Possum Trot KY safe from being forced to wear a burka and give up her old timey religion.

7. Oh, goody, another bogeyman (eek!) to finance the MIC.
I wish they'd find one with a name that doesn't contain hyphens. Get back to me when Joe Smith makes his debut.

8. Or one that we haven't killed yet!
Is THIS one still alive? Because yesterday's 'new Al Queda' leader was killed in a drone attack in 2009!

:eyes:

Now back to what we really have to be scared about. Death by lack of insurance coverage would be a good place to start. How about we start 'targeting' that in the interests of national security.

9. It might work if Blue Cross/Blue Shield became Red Star/Red Shield.
And, the CEO would don camouflage and a balaclava and give the profits reports in Arabic.

13. Mmm, I like that. If someone could make a video game
featuring the Ins Corps as Darth Vader types, and Single Payer advocates as the good guys, that would probably work better than any ads on TV to get the people roused up to fight for a national health care system.

Maybe a red star on Darth's helmut and yes, a red shield would be a nice touch!

11. I wonder who writes these stories? Check out the contradiction
regarding Bin Ladin's place of birth or 'homeland'. The first sentence in the article:

Al-Qaeda's supremo in Yemen -- Osama bin Laden's ancestral homeland --

And just when I was thinking that the Bin Laden family view Saudi Arabia as their homeland! The third sentence from the article:

the "matter will be over" with the killing of bin Laden, the Saudi-born architect of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Have we ever seen his birth certificate?

Where are the birthers when you need them?

12. We have Bush to thank for this
And if Al-Qaeda in Yemen makes good in this threat, blood will be on GW's hands. If we had just stuck w/the mission in Afghanistan, instead of diverting our resources into Iraq, I doubt Al-Qaeda could have morphed into what it has become today. It was allowed to evolve and spread like a metastasized cancer all over the world.

Just another of the many 'gifts' we are left w/following the Bush years. :grr:
