Has the "Cave-In" Begun?
Yesterday, MSNBC's Mike Vaquera (sp???)was reporting from the White House lawn. He said something that was never mentioned again all day long, anywhere...

He said that a number of Dems, after meeting with Obama, were very angry about "Medicare and SS". (I've been trying to find any other reporting on this).

If so, it signals to me that the "cave-a-rooskie" is starting and they smell it. It would not only be a slap in the face to "we the people" (aka: peons) BUT it also flushes our chance to blow away Repukes all over the country in 2012. Have you heard anything in these last 24 hours about this?? Please tell me we would not be that weak or stupid ... again!

2. Was he specific about the Dems
being mad at the President about SS and Medicare or did he just say they were mad about them? Most Dems I have head are mad about the attacks on SS and Medicare but that anger rightly is directed at the GOP. There do need to be changes, raise the income cap on SS taxes and allow Medicare to bargain for cheaper drug/care prices like the VA and all insurance companies do would be a great way to fix both.

3. I agree...
And some clarification would be nice. I've left conversations with people pissed as hell, but not at the people I was talking with.

I think we need a little more information here.

5. Like I said........
...he just reported the meeting and that a number of Dems came out of it angry about Medicare and SS! I've been searching for hours and can't find who were the Dems, etc.??? You would think a few would stomp in front of the cameras or something. Maybe after that report they were all told to shut up! I just don't have any other info...

4. With whom were they mad?
And about what specifically... I really detest outrage without a cause.

16. They were angry at the fact they were being screwed. Instead
of getting out there and confidently explaining what
is really going on, the Democrats did not even get
out there and push back against Republicans who condemned
HCR. No one every made the case for Stimulus Spending.
Instead, the Republicans( who had just been rejected)
whipped into gear and focused their anger on Democrats.
Sure the GOP exploited the people. If Democrats do
not put up fight for an alternative way, then they
are gulty fof assisting the Republicans. The Narrative
becams the Democrats screwed the economy and it studk
because no one fought back. It did not matter that
Blue Dogs and Centrists were voting with Republicans.
They carried the blame.

Now that Obama has swung things his way, he needs
to stand for the working class. The Republicans do
not care about Working Class when it comes to financial
policy. Obama and Democrats have to distinguish themselves.

6. MSNBC has a short story on their web page, but its not by Mike Vaquera.
President Barack Obama told Senate Democrats on Wednesday not to adopt unyielding positions in budget talks with Republicans and to stay unified even as more painful spending cuts lie ahead before lawmakers and the White House can reach a deal on deficit reduction.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., gave details to reporters at the White House after Obama met with nearly all Senate Democrats.

The president is to meet Thursday with Senate Republicans.

"He believes we have no choice but to work this out. He made that very clear to us," said Reid.

Further down the story it says, "All options are open".

11. I would like to see them close a few options,
all it would take is for them to say, "All options are open", except for SS and Medicare. Thanks for the link.

14. Let me start by saying I admired how Obama handled OBL.
Of course, if we remember from early in campaign, Obama
himself showed he is more interested in foreign policy
and therefore defense. He has proven he is an excellent
commander in chief.

Now for Domestic Policy, I hope he does not turn out to
be another Daddy Bush. Bush SR. loved foreign policy
and not so much Domestic Policy. His attitude--the government
cannot do much about Domestic policy sank him when it came
time for 2ond term.

With all due respect, Obama at times seems to have drank
the Republican Kool Aid on this. I hope he has not bought
the rest of the Republican Agenda. Ignore what is happening
in the states, act as if DC is truly a bubble separate and
apart from the country, put on green eye shades and cut cut
cut.

Affirm the Republican Plan and do not explain how a Democratic
President is different in Policy . We will cut too but be
a little nicer about it. You are affirming the Republican
Agenda. There is a reason all those Blue Dogs and Centrists
lost in the last elections.

May I say one more time. Both Parties must learn that the
country is not as conservative as the people they send to
Congress. The people they send to Congress are often bound
to look out for the Elites and Big Business. Do you wonder
Mr. President, why the wrong track keeps showing up???
Since you said you would defend Medicare, there are some
right track polls here and there.

The Democrats on the Hill should not be made to appease
the Republicans.

7. As others here have said, it's very unclear who they were angry with.
Even if they were angry with Obama, who were the Dems? Were they maybe blue dogs who agree with the Republicans?

We just can't tell from your post who they were angry with or what exactly they were angry about.

And WTF is "cave-a-rooskie"? When I Google the phrase it only comes up with one link - to this thread.

13. Well, I'm trying to get a meeting with my blue dog
rep, along with a group of like minded people, and I'm going to DEFINITELY ask about this along with his vote AGAINST the People's Budget. MAYBE if we actually keep the pressure on the REPRESENTATIVES we might give them the backbone to stand up to ANYBODY, Republican OR Democrat, who wants to balance the budget on the backs of the working class and the poor.

I continue to go back to what Rachel Maddow said LAST year about this budget/deficit debate. If you don't look at the revenue side, you're not serious about the deficit. Period. Ryan's Republican budget (you know, the one they're running away from as fast as they can), PROVES that. Because it slights the revenue side, it doesn't balance the budget for, what? I think I read 70 years or so. That's not serious.

8. No, just like the 20 times before, Obama will not cut SS
and those who claim he's going to will look like fools.

Sometimes it's good to take a breath before one acts on one's outrage.
