1. When a person says their faith teaches bigotry and intolerance
celebration of that faith is celebration of bigotry and intolerance. In the Bible I was raised with, it clearly says that only hypocrites pray in public, or make a big fuss about their prayers. It says God does not listen to public prayers as they hypocrites are not talking to him anyway, they are talking to themselves, seeking not God but man's agenda. This is what Jesus said. These 'prayer breakfast' types reject the teachings of Jesus as inconvenient and counter to their traditions....

4. "Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion"
*not* "the President is not allowed to pray in public".

7. he may have the right to pray in public
but it's unsettling. It gives the impression that, to get his job done, the leader of the country needs to lean on some supernatural figure whose existence is dubious at best.

8. I think some here have a problem with the "free exercise" part of the First Amendment
which is what this activity falls under.

5. Indeed. A Public Religion event.
Shameful that Obama feels the need to pander to imaginary friends.

9. Do presidents have to give up religion when they take office?
Obama has done a great job of celebrating almost all of the big american religions. There's nothing wrong with that.
