Senior banned from prom over conspicuous ask-out technique
Edited on Wed May-11-11 11:35 PM by Vehl

High school senior James Tate wanted to impress his friend by asking her to their prom in Shelton, Conn., in a way the whole world would notice, The Connecticut Post reports.

So naturally he went to the school in the middle of the night and taped foot-high pieces of cardboard on its entrance to spell out "Sonali Rodrigues, Will you go to prom with me? HMU Tate." (Gawker says HMU means "hit me up." Kids these days.)

The good news: She said yes! The bad news? Tate is now banned from attending the prom because school officials say he was trespassing and risked his life by using a ladder to put up the romantic request.

^^ If this is not over-reaction by the School administration, I dont know what it is...When does using a ladder to post removable signs on a wall become life threatening..when , judging from the pictures, the highest the boy would have climbed the ladder is probably 2 or 3 feet..at most.

On one hand students are bringing guns to school(to display their amendment rights)...while on the other students are being punished severely for showing some improvisation!

1. Let them play! Let them play!
Sorry, Bad News Bears reference....
But allow kids to be kids from time to time.
Rules are rules but it wasn't like he was skinning kittens.
Punish him another way....

4. He should have stood on her lawn holding a boombox.

Nah, it's cute. All of it except maybe the HMU part.
