Soon it will be the "common wisdom" that it is perfectly acceptable to disappear anyone accused of being a terrorist.

"Terrorist" we all know don't "deserve" justice other than a "bullet to the head" and one is a "terrorist" not by evidence and facing accusers in an open court but simply by unchecked accusation.

More than likely nothing beyond the pale happened here but the precedent and the current environment of indefinite detentions, torture, tribunals for non-military personnel, suspension of habeas corpus, bullshit wars, trials denied, and any number of gross distortions of the law and American ideals.
All against a backdrop of private prisons and contractors.

14. "the law and American ideals" have always been a PR scam... if you look carefully.

The country went from "all men are created equal" in the Declaration of Independence to declaring slavery legal and even so far as granting extra representation to the slave holding states as if the population of those states included 3/5 the population of the slaves in extra citizens. I give you "the law and American ideals"...

Slavery, genocide, robber barons, political corruption, Jim Crowe, neo-colonialism, annexation of islands in the Pacific and Caribbean, internment of Japanese citizens, nuking, torture training in Central America... there's really nothing new here. We all just need to remember that Democratic presidents do it too...
