Because it is quite clear that *someone* with a fair amount of power over there was protecting OBL for quite some time. Harboring American Enemy #1 is a much better reason for going to war against someone than, say, being Saddam Hussein was. But as much as I am not a fan, I do give Obama credit for wanting to find ways to *avoid* going to war with Pakistan instead of jumping on reasons to do it.

OK, Libya, yes, discouraging. However, bombing Libya has been done before and I don't believe Obama is planning to follow it up with a ground invasion any more than Reagan did. But invading Pakistan is a completely different prospect and would probably trigger something that woudl eventually wind up being called the Third World War. It's possible that even W, Cheney, and their friends would be daunted by the prospect of invading Pakistan...but then it's possible they wouldn't.
