Conservatives are inconsiderate teenagers
This comment came from the NY Times Magazine's story on Jerry Brown, but has a broader truth:

Government is the responsible parent and conservatives are the teenagers living in the house Government built and maintains for them.

Meanwhile the conservative teenagers consume everything they can snatch from their brothers & sisters, obstinately evade contributing their fair share to the household, and whine and complain all the time about how it's not fair they should be forced to have any consideration for anyone they share the house with at all.

Like parents everywhere, Jerry Brown must endure the conservative teenager's narcissistically 'principled' tirades, keep repeating the facts and ethics that must be respected, maintain the relationship no matter what, and have faith that as the conservative teenagers mature and realize their role as citizens of the household and community, they will make 'good decisions' when 'offered choices' at the ballot box and will 'do the responsible thing' to keep a roof over their heads; no matter how much the conservative teenagers just want more gas money or to spend the whole day glued to Fox TV.

It's a tough and thankless job, but if Government doesn't take care of the conservative teenagers- no matter how arrogant, misinformed, selfish and combative they may be- who will?

1. It's no surprise that Ayn Rand is currently the conservative darling...
Most Randroids I know became devoted to her novels, and then her philosophy, as teenagers. No shock; not only have teens had less exposure to good literature, and thus are unable to realize just how poorly-written Rand's novels are, but Objectivism is a philosophy perfectly geared to adolescence, telling its followers that whatever they themselves -- superior, brilliant, heroic beings -- want is sacrosanct, and anyone or anything that stands in their way -- the mindless, ugly, ridiculous "vulgar herd" of authority figures (i.e. parents, teachers, preachers, and other adults) -- is monstrously evil and must be fought to the death on "ethical" grounds. Has any philosophy been more perfectly-suited to the adolescent than The Virtue of Selfishness? Those behind the conservative movement have long tried to dumb-down the average American; now, we're reaping the harvest of that poisonous fruit.

3. Sorry but I don't see them as teenagers, but as little crying babies.
They honestly remind me of infants crying because they aren't getting what they want. Don't defame the teenagers! They are much more intelligent than to behave like that.

4. These teenagers won't ever grow up...
So, really, they're worse.
