Release the photo.. so we can see more headlines like this:
Saudi Police Say A Senior Al Qaeda Member Has Turned Himself In
http://www.businessinsider.com/saudi-arabia-says-senior-al-qaeda-member-turned-himself-in-2011-5

Saudi Arabia says an al-Qaida member on the kingdom’s most wanted list called from abroad and turned himself in.

Interior Ministry’s spokesman Maj. Gen. Mansour Al-Turki said in a statement Wednesday that Khaled Hathal Abdullah al-Atifi al-Qahtani contacted the security authorities from an undisclosed country and expressed his wish to come home....

Al-Qahtani was reunited with his family and his surrender will be taken into consideration while looking into his case, Al-Turki said....

They are passing up a chance to destroy the deity myths of osama.. and its a mistake to do so. maybe a few wont be convinced but many like qatani will.

4. I agree - the names of the next most wanted
Watch them run to their favorite country and turn themselves in.

10. I agree; they believe bin laden is dead, what they DON'T know is what is on the data captured.

Time to cut their deals now, if they can.

2. I think it has to do more with the data captured and not the death
It's very likely that we now know who every body in al queda is, their true names and where they live.

can't hide.

5. But he turned himself in without having seen the photos.
Maybe it's the death and not the evidence of it.

My suspicion, and Obama's, is that the photo would serve as a recruitment tool more than it would dissuade.

6. release the photos so more will do what qahtani did without the photos being released?
Want to extrapolate on that bit of tortured logic?
One could just as readily argue that you don't need to release the photos, some already are giving it up because they (a) know he's dead and (b) know that the info obtained in the raid that killed him makes their eventual capture or death much more likely.

7. There are two things working in our favor on that front
First, the raid itself showed them that they can be found and killed no matter how a government (or faction within that government) has managed to protect them.

Second, they're all wondering just how much information is on those computers that were seized. You know bin Laden was probably very careful for a long time, hiding the drives in reasonably secure places around the compound. After 7 years of safety, he undoubtedly got sloppy and those computers are chock full of names, places and crimes.

I would certainly not want to be in that line of work at this point.

8. Maybe other reasons for surrender....
"However experts said it was unlikely the death of the al-Qaida leader was a factor in al-Qahtani's decision.

"There have been quite a few similar cases. It's more likely due to other reasons. Family pressures often play a very significant role," said Thomas Hegghammer, an expert at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment and author of Jihad in Saudi Arabia.

The exact circumstances of the surrender of al-Qahtani, who is believed to have been a senior member of al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsular (AQIP) and was operating from Yemen, are unclear."
