Have the teevee on while I balance the checkbook, coverage of Biden at the Pentagon. Screen went black for a few seconds, then it went into "this is a test of the emergency broadcast system". I know. They have to test it. But the timing. . .

1. That's a bad station

Those are scheduled a day in advance. I work in TV Traffic and that is a bonehead move by the Traffic Department to do that. We usually schedule ours for Saturdays. Why during the day - especially on the same day that they are having a ceremony at Ground Zero?? Just poor planning

And, according to the test's announcer, the test covered two counties, both of which are purple in the middle of deep red territory.

2. A few days after 911 I had a vivid dream ...

that I was sitting in one of the World Trade Center towers. I was working on a computer, and as I glanced out the windows across the room I saw this big airliner coming at the windows in the sunlight. I was above the airliner which was about to hit a couple floors down from where I was. I sat there stunned ..... no thoughts and as the airliner hit the building I heard my computer say "Goodbye" .... in that old AOL sign off voice, I woke up .... yeah some things are just plain creepy.

4. I suspect these tests hit a special nerve with those of us from the Cuban-crisis days
