You could say we entered into two wars which are causes of the deficit the reduction of which will cause us to lose much of our safety net. We lost rights due to the Patriot Act and all its follow on restrictions. Support of the wars was a large part of electing those who took away the financial restraints on wall street so in a way if you supported going to Afghanistan and are unemployed because of the recession you are in part to blame for your own plight.

We took Osama's life but with our help he took a lot of things of importance away from us.

1. We didn't lose anything. 9/11 was a device the RW used to take those things away from us.

Meanwhile, the average American got nothing out of it.

Your chances of being struck by lightning are 25x greater than being struck by a terrorist attack.

3. Couldn't have been done worse...
Retaliation for the 9/11 attacks is where it should have stopped (we should have attacked Al Qaeda and crippled the Taliban). Instead, Bush went on a mission of Imperialism done sadistically.
