Edited on Wed May-04-11 02:52 PM by cliffordu
Doesn't it violate the oath of office? That part about faithfully discharging the duties of the office.....

Of course there's that nasty thing about enemies foreign and domestic..........

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."

1. What pledge are you referring to
Given that it's Norquist, I can probably about just imagine what it is but I would still like to know what some Congresscritters are signing on to.

Mostly the R's and the baggers.

In order not to be brutalized and primaried by the anti-tax at all costs folks.

6. Thought so
Where's the increased government revenues going to come from? I mean, while we're waiting for all that money that endless tax cuts were supposed to create to come "trickling down" on the rest of us? Raising taxes and/or closing certain loopholes might well need to be considered at some point. There's only so much that government can be cut before it starts harming people (and, to some extent, it's already harming people in some areas), particularly when not everything is on the table. All that aside, the people WE elect are supposed to be representing and in thrall to US, NOT Grover Norquist. If Norquist wants to help set our national policy and/or priorities, he should be runing for office himself.

3. no.

Bad judgment, bad policy and bad decisions are not the same as treason. Given the constitutional history of the treason clause, its rather silly to suggest that they are, to be honest.

5. Grover should be investigated
for his corruption. I don't know why he's not discussed more in the news. He actually has a huge amount of power in the Rethug party.

7. short remembrance-
in the '90s, i was a CTA ( Cal. Teachers Assoc) rep and attended state councils---the Pres. of CTA at the time, Wayne Johnson, warned us about grover norquist- and i've kept my eye on him ever since---he's been flying under the radar for too long- it's about time he was stopped ---

8. Norquist was on O'Donnell discussing this oath. He said even
some Dems have signed it. It's not a rumor cause I heard it from Norquist's mouth that there is an oath like that.

10. He seemed proud of his "contract" on O'Donnell show
Edited on Wed May-04-11 05:26 PM by liberal_mama
He even suggested that George H.W.Bush violated the contract and was denied a 2nd term because of it. What kind of power does this guy have? It reminds me of the mafia!
