Things I've been wondering about since OBL's death.......
1. If a helicopter landed in your back yard in the middle of the night wouldn't you be more likely than not to hear it? Especially if one of its rotors hit a wall surrounding your house? The "compound" doesn't look that big according to the photos that it could not be seen or heard. Hell, if a dog barks a couple of blocks over it wakes me up.

2. If you are the most wanted person in the world, wouldn't you have built in escape mechanisms within a couple of feet of you at all times? It seems with all of the money that OBL was reported to have had he would have made his escape a top priority.

Just wondering.

1. Life flight helicopters fly over my house all the time
You get used to the sound and tune it out. OBL lived near a military base, there may have been helicopters there all the time making it common place and no one thought anything about it.

As one version of the story being told, that when the choppers were on the ground there was a gun fight which would indicate that his guards were doing their job and were probably out manned and out gunned.

Maybe they felt safe in that location, hiding in plain sight per-say and therefore after all these years thought that they were invincible. Maybe the escape routes were covered.

Fact is we don't and may never know ever detail of the events that brought OBL to justice.

Its not worth wondering too much about, it is done and we should move on with getting our freedoms back and our troops home.

4. What kind of escape mechanisms?
Like that pod they had in Star Wars? Whatever means he could have had to escape, I'm sure the SEALs were prepared for it. About the only thing that would have worked is multiple booby-trapped tunnels, which might have given him time to make an escape temporarily.

5. You do realize that he may have wanted to be captured.
Wouldn't you get sick of that shit after a while?

And at some point, wouldn't you see the value of yourself as a martyr?

6. Living Near An Army Base...
As they keep mentioning, he was within walking distance of the Kakul military base...Pakistan's West Point. I'll be the sound of hellicopters are heard regularly over the area. I'll bet they sure heard those rotors but by the time they could have reacted, the Seals were already on the ground and had the element of surprise.

Kinda hard to escape (unless some kind of tunnel system was built into that compound) when your driveway is full of Seals ready to shoot first and ask questions later.

So much second guessing on this story...many armchair quarterbacks and moralists. Bottom line is this murderer was caught is no more. How it was done means little.

7. Well, from the time when they heard the helicopter...
...to the time they had boots on the ground was likely no more than 30 seconds. Seal teams are trained to get in very quickly.

And, what escape system would you propose? An ejection seat? A spider hole?

9. Attack helicopters can be fitted with a sound canceling device. It
muffles the sound.
