Fuck Bush !
No, he shouldn't be invited to New York. No, no one should apologize to him. No, he deserves no credit whatsoever. He deserves to be tried and convicted.

Now that Bin Laden has been killed, there is no need to hide the truth about George W Bush one more minute. That mother fucker was asleep at the wheel on Sept 11th, 2001 and did not protect this country as he swore that he would do. He was the most ignorant, most arrogant asshole to ever sit in the White House. Nobody owes him anything.

He lied to the American people about WMDs and invaded a sovereign country that led to many innocent deaths and permanent disabilities. He broke our Treasury by giving everything we have to his wealthy friends. No, we owe George W Bush nothing. We do not owe him any respect. That mother fucker owes us. I do not wish to hear any dumbass Republicans talking about how great George W Bush is and what a great job he did. Go to hell, you sons of bitches!

Obama would not have the troops there at all, especially in Iraq, if they had not been left there by the previous President. It is naive, once they are there and everything has gone to hell, to say that he should withdraw them all immediately. Obama would never have invaded Iraq or created the mess that Bush created. He is in the unfortunate position of having to clean up a very big pile of shit.

Obama was left a hand that he has to play out. If that makes him a war criminal, then so be it.

98. not so black and white
Prez Obama unfortunately cant live in your fantasy world. The action of Bush dealt his hand. Because of that, we do in fact bear responsibility to the peoples of afghanistan and iraq.

I want nothing more most days than for all of my troops to come home. But I stopped crying about want vs reality when I stopped believing in the easter bunny.

And in case you didnt notice, OIF ended last year, and there have been no fallujah type operations under Prez Obama. Hardly a continuation.
Drone attacks are smack in the midst of a grey area. They have their place.

117. Drone strikes are quite legal
And Obama is right to use them. Surgical action vs. just bombing the whole place or sending in troops.

In a war you kill enemy soldiers on the battlefield.

These soldiers aren't wearing uniforms, and their battlefield is the world.

They are fair game wherever we find them.

The countries who harbor them have no grounds to complain.

10. Try having all the info he needed to have prevented 9/11 in
the first place. Wasn't it Wolfowitz that, when he heard about the planes hitting the towers, said something like, "I hope that wasn't the guys from the flight school?"

They were warned but their attention was on looting the country. They weren't about to be seen taking any direction from Clinton's people.

16. Dead on the money.
Clinton's transition team and security staff warned him personally about Bin Laden. The Bush security team thought Clinton was overreacting to a personal grudge.

Bush was briefed by the CIA at Crawford Ranch on vacation and given a memo "Bin Laden Determined to Strike the U.S. Condaleesa Rice later testified that they believed it was old intel on an old topic. That was Aug 6, 2001. Thirty six days later, the airplanes struck the Towers while Bush was reading 'Pet Goat'.

Bush and Cheney not only failed to pursue the mastermind of the attack, but used it to launch an attack on Iraq and Saddam Hussein who had nothing to do with Usama Bin Laden or any terrorists. The estimated total cost of war on the U.S. economy has been 2.5 trillion dollars.

On top of all this, George Bush was not elected by the people's popular vote in Nov 2000. Al Gore was displaced from his presidency because the SCOTUS upheld Katherine Harris' on ending the recount in Florida with thousands of questionable and uncounted ballots.

while the country is under a major attack. Is this the action of a real leader? Saying that the kids would be upset if he left is an abominable excuse and the media let them get away with this. Obama would have made a quick but gracious excuse and the teacher would have handled everything without any problems---the kids would not have been upset. His lack of leadership and the pass by the press is inexcusable!

52. But President Obama did invite him to New York. And in his televised speech
announcing the killing of OBL, Obama did acknowledge Bush. Apparently President Obama is more interested in bringing America together than many on this board are. Bush still commands the respect of millions of Americans. Are we going to throw those millions under the bus? IMO that is no way to move forward as a country.

I do agree with your characterizations of Bush, including labeling him as a war criminal. But President Obama wants to move beyond that and I agree with him.

But you would never know that from reading DU, which is so far out of the mainstream of Democratic politics that it's pitiful.

64. These FUCKING jerks, how arrogant of them to assume they had anything to do with OBL elimination.
This is so arrogantly audacious, who do these fucks think that they are?

10 years later, multiple statements from Bush saying "I am just not that concerned about him", the Bush administrations direction to not kill OBL in Tora Bora, the dismantling of CIA unit dedicated to capturing OBL. ARE THEY FUCKING KIDDING? REALLY?

The only credit the Bush administration should be given is the credit for running the US economy and our country into the fucking ground!

76. Couldn't agree more!
You are absolutely correct. Anyone who thinks Bush deserves credit is ignoring the facts and history. I am definitely not a 9/11 "truth-er." However, it is known that before 9/11 the Bush family was friendly with the very wealthy bin Laden family. Bush ignored warnings about a possible terrorist attack before 9/11. Then, when our troops had bin Laden cornered in Tora Bora in 2001, someone in his administration called them off. Bush then proceeded to get us into an unnecessary war, which has cost this country dearly and actually made us less safe. In 2005 he basically called the hunt for bin Laden officially off, closing the dept. if the CIA that was for looking for him. I can't believe anyone wants to give Bush any kind of credit.

114. Regarless of how the Fox lead MSM tries his failure and his only "achievement" is gone
The press was caught remarkably flat footed unprepared for what they had to know was likely to happen in this 4 years period - Bin Laden is found or dies.

If there is a second term, very likely now, Castro will probably die and Obama will basically oversee the beginning of the freeing of Cuba. They better prepare for that like they pre-write obituaries for celebrities.

Bush is done. He isn't going to NYC because he knows he Obama will suck all the air out of the outdoor setting, shadow Bush with his glow, and Bush would at best have little response and likely be boooed.

121. As much as I disliked Bush, I despised Cheney & Rumsfeld way more ...
Bush was simply ignorant and incompetent ... Cheney & Rumsfeld were liars and deceivers. How they stayed out of Federal Prison for withholding critical info that resulted in Bush dragging our country into Iraq, I'll never know. Bet Bush wishes he hadn't kept Cheney around for round 2. What a jerk!

By the way, I heard someplace, that Bush has fallen off the wagon and gone back to some serious drinking. Probably one of the main reasons he didn't want to meet Obama at the Trade Center Plaza. Wouldn't that be a hoot ... show up drunk?!?
