ROGERS, Ark. — A district judge in Rogers marked the death of Osama bin Laden by giving misdemeanor violators a $51 break on their fines and court fees.

The amount represents May 1, or 5-1, the day a team of Navy SEALs killed the terrorist leader during a raid on a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that District Judge Brad Karren wanted people to remember the day when the U.S. scored a victory against terrorism. Karren said Monday that he’s proud of the U.S. military and President Obama.

Karren waived the fees for about 100 people convicted of misdemeanors such as minor traffic violations. One was Jerry Camilo of Rogers who pleaded guilty to a seat-belt violation and was fined $25. Karren told him he wouldn’t have to pay anything.
