1. Yes, of course.
And we should increase the use of torture. I can't see why we don't use it in our own justice system if it proves to be so effective.

12. Well, I just thought I'd get into the period of buying into bullshit.
As long as we believe one nonsensical thing, why the fuck not another, right?

5. But it didn't and the right wingers are trying to justify their crimes...
And their scenario was always that it would save us in a Jack Bauer crisis. This operation took years and was an instance of closing the barn door after the horse has bolted.

Edited on Tue May-03-11 08:12 AM by seabeyond
it was later in a normal interview that the correct info was given. and even at that it was not enough info to do anything with.

7. If Frogs had Pockets, Would Conceal Carry Laws Apply to Them?
Seriously, since Torture Does NOT work, the question in your poll, IMHO, doesn't strike me as particularly meaningful.

10. Make that 3.
I'm also against the death penalty, a single error wipes out any benefit that 'valid' executions might bear.

9. After one year being held in Gitmo or any other prison, the
inmate would have no useful information. Let the spin die.

13. Torture is the lie and propaganda of barbarians.
Since I am not one, the answer is no. Torture is used primarily as propaganda and it does not usually yield truthful statements as victims of barbarian torture techniques will say what the torturer wants to hear to make it stop. Torture was used as one of the many lies that launched the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq. It is used for propaganda or to put fear in human populations. The people that support torture are closer to terrorists than normal human beings.

14. Definitely!
Now just imagine what we could accomplish if we INCREASED the use of torture!

Even conservatives have got it wrong. It's not just "suspects" that can have valuable information. The best criminals are the ones that fly under the radar. These are the people who may have the best information that could solve or prevent crimes. It's nearly impossible to identify ever single one of them but there is a solution.

We should torture everyone!

We could torture everyone on their 16th birthday and then every birthday after. You would get a notice in the mail to report for enhanced interrogation within a month of turning 16.

It might be an expensive government program so people would be charged for the privilege of making them safer. Voila! We would have a torture program that did not even increase the deficit!

Just think of all the evil that would be defeated by the mandatory torturing of everyone. You could walk the streets without fear of attack because anyone who attacked you would confess during their next torture session!

Also, even if you were attacked it would be no big deal because you would have been hardened by the benefit of all the torture that your government provided at a reasonable cost.

However there is one drawback. Socialism! There is a risk that a successful mandatory torture program could lead to a government takeover of all violence in society.
