I guess, more than anything else, I find the killing of bin-Laden sobering
and sort of a non-invent. I understand how if you knew people who were killed on September 11th or if you're a New Yorker or Washingtonian you might feel differently, but I didn't and I'm not.

It seems unlikely that this is a momentous event that will change things. What will it change? What real power had bin-Laden at this point? He was, by most accounts, a figurehead more than anything else at this point in time.

I'm not begrudging anyone feeling good about it. I just don't think it's nearly as meaningful as it's being portrayed- though certainly it's politically potent for the administration.

3. I don't think you had to be a New Yorker
or Washingtonian. God, I watched as It happened and I can't begin to express the overwhelming sense of grief and anger I felt.

It may not be that meaningful, but certainly it is symbolic, and as crazy as it sounds, to some extent it does feel like "justice."

The sick mother fucker. He's dead, and I'm glad.

4. My feelings are complicated
As I posted earlier today I don't like the process but rather like the way ReTHUGS have to STFU on matters security. We're setting some awful precedents re the value of life.

5. I'm having mixed feelings too.
Here's what's great about this:

- Watching the GOP struggle to explain this

- Obama completely negated about 15 GOP memes in the process

- It happened on Obama's watch when it's revealed that Bush gave up years ago

Here's what's not so great about this:

- There's no one, repeat no fucking one in the Bush administration or the Military Industrial Complex who will be tried for war crimes

- Exxon, et al, will use this as a further way to jack oil and gas prices sky high

- There's no guarantee something horrific will happen

- No one will ever explain the reasons for Iraq and Afghanistan when he was in Pakistan all along.
