Defending a man caught with what was thought to be drugs in his boxer shorts, lawyer Jerry Engle noted his pen was missing after a day of trial this week.

It was found in what might, in another case, have been an unlikely spot.

Engle’s client, Ronald Allen, 55, had tried to smuggle the pen into the Jackson County Jail by putting it in his butt, court officials said. Engle was told it was located in Allen’s dirty underwear.

It was an area he had used before to store contraband, Assistant Prosecutor Jerard Jarzynka said. ..........(more)
