Yeah, we still have bush's wars which were a big mistake. As everyone knows more Americans were killed as a result of bush's cowardly reaction to 9/11 than actually died on 9/11. --not to mention tens of thousands of other innocent people. How stupid was that? But it was in bush's best interest to keep America as a victim so as to achieve his agenda.

Just think, for nearly ten years OBL most likely continued to oversee operations that killed Americans and innocent civilians. Getting OBL was important for that reason too. Now that we got him, we can stop being the victims. The disaster of the bush presidency is slowly coming to an end.

1. Will the "victims" be pulling their occupying forces out of Iraq & Afghanistan?
Now that the War on Terror is over?

4. In President Obama's remarks last night, he addressed that
very point. In fact, he said that terrorism is still a matter of much concern. As you know, plans are already in the works to end our involvement in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Those will proceed, although it may be possible to move up the time schedule, depending on the reaction to yesterday's events. Sadly, President Obama has a lot of things to consider, since he actually has the job of being President. Those of us who do not have that job have the enviable position of not having to consider all the facts before we say what should happen.

It's all pretty complicated, unfortunately. Patience is almost always required when dealing with complex situations.

6. Patience, mixed in with some delusion and suspension of reality
because you're never, and I mean NEVER going to eliminate 'terror' from the Earth. It's a concept, not a thing.

Hence this 'war' you speak of is endless. That is some patience, no doubt. :sarcasm:

9. Then, it's all hopeless, I suppose.
Guess I'll just curl up and hide, then.

13. You don't have to curl up and hide. Just don't expect to win...
because there is no such scenario where the world is totally free of the concept of 'terror'.

14. There never has been such a world. Why would I expect one to
suddenly appear? There is no "win." Life's pretty hard.

2. how do we know he was still conducting operations
another strange thing, you would think he would have kept hitting us after the spectacular 9/11 but no more attacks from him on us after that? One attack and he is done, just weird.

3. Oh, good. Then we can repeal the unPATRIOTic Act, the MCA and dismantle the DHS and TSA, right?
Edited on Mon May-02-11 12:59 PM by ixion
because as longs as those things exist, we are perpetual victims.

5. I wouldn't expect that if I were you. You'll only be disappointed.
Only one man was killed yesterday. There are many others who mean us all harm.

And will continue to do us harm, as long as we allow it.

10. So you believe. And without any means to change it, according
to you. Pretty depressing situation, I'd think. I can't hold your beliefs. Sorry. You're on your own with them.

8. I never felt like I was a victim
But I'll tell you what, if the next round of extra-legal murder gets me, please do NOT feel like you have to spend billions, kill millions and waste a decade consumed by a victim mentality to inject meaning into my death. In fact, don't do it even it you don't feel like you have to.

12. Wishful thinking
"Now that we got him, we can stop being the victims. The disaster of the bush presidency is slowly coming to an end."

Not UNLESS you & I make it happen. If this symbolic victory gives you the courage and confidence to create something new, OK. But the legacy of the Bush/Cheney years will be much harder to deal with than you realize IMO--especially if you think that getting Bin Laden at this point is a big help in it.

15. We are still victims
when we board airplanes, and have to remove shoes, discard excess liquids, get scanned or frisked.

We can thank OBL for the permanent concern of our DHS.
