So, how did the Osama op influence the Gates/Panetta/Petraeus shuffle?

The press story suggests there were 9 meetings on this operation between Obama and his advisors in the last year, and that most of them occurred this past March.

Just wondering...did Gates finally get the 'closure' that he needed before he could leave office? Did Panetta score a coup for the CIA and himself? Was a military guy like Petraeus needed in the CIA to pull of the op with consent of the Joint Chiefs?

It must be galling for Gates, knowing he was on his way out while OBL was in the final stages of being captured.
