I went to bed early last night. Woke up this morning to a phone so freighted with messages that I could barely pick it up. My favorite was the one I got from Camille, who simply sang, "Ding Dong, the witch is dead," before hanging up.

Ten years.

The thought of it is like a slap in the face.

The cynical, political part of me had one immediate thought upon hearing the news: Obama just locked up his second term.

Think about it. He now has the perfect response to whatever the right throws at him.

"You're not a citizen."

"I killed Bin Laden."

"You're a secret Muslim"

"I killed Bin Laden."

"You're a secret terrorist."

"I killed Bin Laden."

"You're a socialist."

"I killed Bin Laden."

"You're not a real American."

"I killed Bin Laden."

Lather. Rinse. Repeat. He doesn't even have to say it. Just smile that Cheshire-cat smile.

Or maybe not. I went to the local convenience store to pick up the New York Times - I have a long habit of keeping newspapers from big days - and did a very informal poll of the other people in line. Two guys said, "Fuckin' A!" when I held up the front page, but a third fellow looked over his shoulder as he was walking out and said, "Maybe gas prices will go down now."

Hm.

Finally, I have an image in my head that won't go away. I see a small apartment outside Fort Bragg or Fort Benning, and a little girl inside looks up at her mother and says, "Does this mean Daddy can come home now?"

Pray it be so.

3. My random thoughts were shameful.

I know I am supposed to be happy about this because "the witch is dead" but I am not....and when I here the chants USA, USA, I get this funny feeling that it is morally wrong....and so deep in my heart I know i must be a bad bad man.
But now they are telling us that this means we need to extend the Patriot act and I suspect they will as they slowly transitions us to accept a police state.
Nope no good feelings about this....but then I seem to be different.

4. A part of me thinks OBL death is a smoke screen..

I think OBL has been dead for years and rolling this out now is to distract us for the coming second crash of the U.S. economy. I get the feeling the PTB and the bankers are about to fuck us again.
