I absolutely, positively oppose the death penalty
but I'm human and flawed and hypocritical and I won't apologize nor ask for pardon for celebrating tonight.

Many of my ex's co-workers were in Tower 2 on 9/11/01.

I'm glad the fuckers dead and fuck his sympathizers all to hell.

12. People he knew but I didn't. He had telephone business to do with that office
that day--he's Asian Indian but when I told him that the WTC had been hit by a plane he turned as white as I am. That's when I found out that he knew several people ther, including one of his trainees.

8. You have to be arrested to be sentenced to death.
OBL was not about to let himself be captured.

10. I'm not glorying so much in his death
but in the fact that we now have no reason whatsoever to be in Afghanistan, although I'm sure the generals will fight like hell to keep it going until they all retire.

After all, he's left a huge number of sons plus a whole slew of tribal connections behind. All we can hope is that they'd rather live in luxury off his money than spend it creating more mayhem around the world.

However, I do think there are few tears being shed for him around the world.

Personally, I wish that he'd been taken alive to sing like a little birdie.

11. I oppose the death penalty in part because the
person has been locked up and removed from society.

Terrorists killed while waging war or engaging in firefights are a completely different matter.

If he had been captured alive and put on trial, I would have opposed the DP.

After trial, it's over.

Osama was not going to surrender.

of this. :) Party on!

16. I feel the same way
I am a law student and I am working at an anti-death penalty organization this summer, but I am really glad Bin Laden is dead. I feel a little hypocritical too, but I think it's a little different in a war than executing people as part of the justice system when we have the opportunity to lock them up instead.

18. I would have prefered dragging him in to a court. Maybe that wasn't possible.
I feel cheated. But then, it probably wouldn't have accomplished much for the effort.

Also, the shoot em up means of bringing justice is really not a good thing.

20. Me too.
If this was really the only option, I'll take it. Would a trial be worth risking even one of the guys who went after him being shot... no, not really. But it would've been better to put him through a trial, if it was at all possible.

19. This was not going to happen any other way ....
Sure ... he could have threw up his hands and said "OK boys .... You got me ..... Come give me the shiny bracelets and I'll come quietly" ....

He could have .... But that is not the style of a dedicated theocratic thug .....

For the record: I DESPISED the Taliban long before 911 .... I am an Atheist, and the Taliban were iconoclastic ANTI humanistic bastards way before those planes took off ....

FUCK the Taliban, and the other hyper-religious perfectionist sectaries around the entire world .... Whatever the flavor ....
